Jennifer Lynn
Grade 5
(906) 524-6000
jlynn@laschools.us

Jennifer Lynn brings 26 years of experience in education as a teacher and administrator. Although raised in southeast Michigan, she fell in love with the Upper Peninsula while attending Northern Michigan University. She hoped to find a way to stay in the Upper Peninsula after student teaching, in England. She returned to Marquette where she lived with and tutored student/athletes at the Olympic Education Center, while substitute teaching. She spent these summers working at Bay Cliff Health Camp.

Her first classrooms were at Father Marquette Middle School, Negaunee Middle School, Pineview and Lakeview elementary schools where she led science instruction and curriculum development. She also ran literacy programs and immersed herself in children’s literature as the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library Children’s Librarian before moving to Baraga County.

Mrs. Lynn moved to Skanee with her twin daughters, Mackenzie and Winter, to be the Arvon Township School k-5 principal/teacher. Five years later, Baraga Area Schools hired her as the elementary principal. This position evolved into a combined superintendent/principal position. After seven years in Baraga, she made the tough decision to move closer to her parents, due primarily to health factors. She recently returned from Lower Michigan to rejoin her husband who stayed in Skanee. Her twin daughters are finishing their undergraduate degrees and starting careers in journalism and material science engineering.

Mrs. Lynn loves both traveling and coming home. She has traveled with students from Baraga's International Club through the British Isles and toured the Finnish education system in Helsinki. Her most recent adventure was 20 days in India. This included a full week of talks on K-12 social emotional learning research.

When home, she spends time outdoors in the woods, garden and orchard or on the water. When indoors she enjoys cooking, reading, writing and painting what inspires her from the natural environment.

Mrs. Lynn is currently a doctoral candidate in educational leadership. She will be teaching fifth grade in L'Anse. She is excited to be home and returning to full-time classroom teaching to share her love of literacy, the arts and science directly with children again.
